Gender

Whether you male of female all products which you purchased or attracted your attention have been targeted towards that gender specifically. They do this by a number of different ways which they use to attract your attention using things such as your 5 senses.

It’s perceived that men tend to purchase products as a show piece, product which will gain the attention depending on how much you have to spend on a product will depend on how extravagant the product may be. The majority of men love cars and a car is a very unique way you are able to judge a person due to what they drive. Sports cars tend to be for people who like heads turning when they drive past, whereas a family car will show that the person behind the wheel is a family guy and therefore cares about the other people who are in the car with them.

Above is a picture of an Audi R8, this is the type of car that would most certainly turn heads. This is a very popular good with footballers as they tend to be constantly in the lime light in within the public eye therefore retain the high profile image by having outrageous cars that will attract them attention and keep him in the limelight

When men are more concerned about flashy things, women are more interested about looking good. The cosmetic market is massive when it comes to female products as women have become more and more self conscious about the way they look. With 21centry pushing size 0 models and celebrities in the late 40’s without a wrinkle on their face, women want to be skinner and younger looking.

As you can see from the image above this show a number of different beauty products which are available on the market, the way in which the appeal to women is by showing them a picture of what someone within that age group and how good that product could make them look because of it. These products tend to work on a woman’s insecurities and therefore this helps these products sell as because some many women want to look like “celebrities”. The companies then get celebrities to advertise these products which entice customer to buy the products even more.

  2. I'm not sure that female products specifically advertise to our insecurites, maybe we just need to feel a sense of belonging with the current society. I think we all give our individual twist on our looks and we're not all size zero :)
